Working with Service Providers

York and North Yorkshire Volunteer Centres promote volunteering opportunities, and broker volunteers into a wide a variety of organisations across York and North Yorkshire that deliver services to people with disabilities, including people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and people who experience mental health problems.

Examples of services supported by Volunteer Centres include:

Organisations that need volunteers, and volunteers that want to work in support services, should contact their local Volunteer Centre to find out what is on offer.

Working with People

Volunteer Centres recognise and understand that some people face additional barriers to volunteering, and support them to find opportunities that suit them, their interests and their skills and abilities.

Some organisations may not be aware of how they can adapt their opportunities, or create new opportunities, to suit people who have mental health issues, physical disabilities, or learning difficulties.

Volunteer Centres work with organisations to examine and develop their volunteering roles and practices, and to consider how they can be more inclusive in involving volunteers in their work.

If you have had a good or bad experience volunteering, or if you’d like to suggest a way we can improve our service, we’d love to hear from you. Please fill out one of these forms.
