Back in January, Volunteer Centres across North Yorkshire encouraged people to begin a Healthy New Year by getting involved in local good causes through volunteering.
Lots of people got in touch with their local Centre, and went on to volunteer in a wide range of activities. If you didn’t get a chance to get involved, it isn’t too late. You can contact your local Volunteer Centre any time, and get involved in a wide variety of activities.
For many people volunteering is an enjoyable hobby where they get involved in something interesting, make friends, or get experience to help them get a job. Research shows that volunteering can also help to improve people’s mental and physical health. Volunteer Centres work with everyone and everyone has something they can offer, regardless of their ability, age, or background.
If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering and would like to speak to someone who can help please contact your nearest Volunteer Centre.
And if you’re not ready to volunteer just now, look out for future campaigns and events, they could be just what you are looking for!
Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation is a quality framework for Volunteer Centres, specifically addressing the delivery of six core functions of volunteering infrastructure at a local level:
The assessment process for Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation examines the activity of a volunteer centre in delivering these six core functions.
For each of these, a volunteer centre is asked to demonstrate that it has processes in place to deliver that function and to monitor the outcome of its delivery. Thus ensuring that volunteers receive the same service throughout North Yorkshire.
